A Pastoral Word
2011 Stewardship Focus: Living Generously
We begin our 2011-2011 stewardship campaign by rejoicing and by celebrating the many blessings that fill our lives. Just take a few moments and think about the blessings that we take for granted each day. God has done so many amazing things for us as God’s people and the wonderful thing is that we didn’t have to do anything to earn these blessings. God wanted to share these things with us because God loves us! Sometimes it is hard to wrap our minds around this wonderful knowledge and we become overwhelmed.
The other wonderful thing about God’s blessings is that God doesn’t guilt us into sharing these blessings or make us share them with others. But the special thing about these blessings is that they do transform us and inspire us to be the people that God created us to be and in doing so, we want to respond generously.
That is why we are committing ourselves as God’s people to live generously and to share our blessings with others.
We are asking everyone to turn in a pledge card on our Consecration Sunday, Sunday, May 22nd so that we as good stewards of the blessings that God has given us, can put together a faithful budget for our ministry opportunities for our new church year. We are also asking everyone to turn in a spiritual gift survey that matches our gifts with our talents and ministry opportunities at Midway Christian Church.
The Finance Committee knows that things change and life happens but these pledge cards are not going to be tracked throughout the year. The purpose is to help us know that we have resources for our ministries for the year. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to me or Phil BUrchell, Chair of the Finance Committee.
