Midway Christian Church will celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany with our 12th Annual Epiphany Dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, in our Fellowship Hall. A special Epiphany Program will be presented in the sanctuary, after which the Three Wise Men will lead us next door for the feast - a fabulous Ouita Michel menu of medieval fare.
The Feast of the Epiphany dates to the third century and celebrates the manifestation of God in the birth of Jesus Christ, and the visitation of the Three Wise Men, or Magi, to Jesus soon after his birth. Historically, the Feast of the Epiphany also has marked the baptism of Christ and the miracle at Cana.
The festive buffet features a medieval menu of roast hog stuffed with sausages; roasted onions with balsamic vinegar and honey; honey-roasted chicken; saffron rice pilaf; carrot pudding with currants and dates; sweet-and-sour cabbage and lentils; salad of lettuces, fennel, mint, parsley, flowers and egg; king cake; poached pears; and candied pine nuts. Appetizers include ancient Turkish flatbread, cheese and walnut dip, spiced toasted almonds, spelt bread and olives.
Reservations are required, but seating is first-come, first-served. (It’s possible that large parties will not find seats together – prepare to make new friends!) The cost is $30 for adults, $15 for youth ages 11-18, and children 10 and under eat free. Reservations are not confirmed until payment is received by the church office. Due to the popularity of this event, we have instituted a no refund policy. We will sell 95 tickets for this year's dinner. The deadline is January 4, or when we sell out, whichever comes first.
To make a reservation, you may call the church office from 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday (859-846-4102). Or if you wish to purchase tickets with a credit card, please use the PayPal option below. Note that although children 10 or younger eat free, they still need a reservation, so please email the office (email@example.com) to make a reservation for children 10 or younger. Also, specify if you need a highchair.
